Jonathan's Secret Agenda With PDP Governors

President Goodluck Jonathan and some Peoples Democratic Party governors who are said to be very loyal to him met in Auja on Wednesday to strategise on the way of the crisis rocking the party and how to give the fast growing opposition party, the APC, a real fight ahead of 2015.

Governors that met with Jonathan include Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Emmmanel Uduaghan (Delta), Theodore Orji (Abia), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi) and Jonah Jang (Plateau).

A top source said Jonathan is worried at the rate PDP members are decamping to APC and wants a counter strategy that could help stem the tide or at least reduce the embarrassing defections.

Also on Wednesday the National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, insisted that he had not resigned as chairman of the PDP as being speculated. Tukur's continuous stay is one of the major problem facing the PDP.

Tukur, who arrived the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa about 7.50 p.m to attend the meeting of the BoT, told State House correspondents that there was no way he would resign and it would be kept secret.

He said: “If I have resigned, you will know, I am not somebody that will resign and you will not know, I have not resigned.”

Before the commencement of the meeting of the BoT, President Jonathan earlier met with caucus members of the party as well as PDP governors in which Tukur was absent.

The meeting also focused on how to address the dwindling fortunes of the party as well as how to win back the governors and the legislators who had dumped the party for the APC.
