I’m Going Into Farming —D’Banj (KOKO MASTER)
Nigeria’s pop music star, D’Banj, has said that he is considering delving into full scale farming to help fight poverty and encourage many African youths to embrace agriculture as a means of livelihood.
He was also made the organisation’s face of 2014 Year of Agriculture Campaign as declared by the Africa Union.
“As a face of the ONE Organisation’s initiative to drive full participation in agriculture, I have to live by example. I am going to engage in agriculture personally to encourage millions of African youths who look up to me as a role model. I need to let them know that unlike the old stereotype of farming which was considered a punishment, modern farming on the contrary, is a cool source of employment for many graduates,” said D’Banj.
According to him, there should be a change where many youths are expected to embrace agriculture and see it as a potentially high-yielding venture to tackle hunger and poverty on the continent.
“Agriculture is life and it is everything that we live for. It is the only way forward for us in Africa. There are many potentials we are missing out and if we could focus on it, the continent can actually feed the rest of the world,” he said.
D’Banj noted that he once tried in his own little way to tackle hunger by going into Koko Gari project not really on a large scale. But now that he is working with ONE Organisation and has been exposed to the potentials in agriculture, he is ready to get involved deeply.
Also speaking at the launch of the campaign, Camerounian-born Nde Ndifonka, Media Manager, Africa, ONE Organisation, said the organisation is keen on pushing the continent’s leaders to stop paying lip service to the funding of agriculture.
He noted that after 10 years of AU’s affirmation that African countries should devote at least 10 percent of the annual budget to agriculture, only three countries-Ghana, Burkina Faso and Benin have met the target.
Ndifonka said there should be change in paradigm and ONE is championing a petition to force the leaders to increase their funding and help tackle poverty and hunger on the continent.
He disclosed that D’Banj will lead the campaign, sign the petition and get other celebrities across Africa to sign for onward delivery to the leaders at their AU Summit coming up in June.

Toni Braxton Splashes $3Million On New Home 6Months After Bankruptcy
Legendary singer Toni Braxton has reportedly purchased a 3 million dollar mansion next to Justin Bieber in Calabasas just 6 months after impoverishment.
According to gossip site TMZ, "Toni, whose reality show Braxton Family Values is already on its third season, just purchased a mansion for close to $3 million in Calabasas' exclusive gated community The Oaks ... just a few houses down from Justin.”
Reports claim the house is 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, and measures 5,323 sq. Ft and technically, it's the smallest house in the neighbourhood ... but still, not too bad for someone who was dead a** broke less than a year ago.
Braxton filed for bankruptcy in 2010 (for the second time). She claimed debts as high as $50,000,000 ... and only ended up repaying a tiny fraction of that before the debts were cleared entirely, according to TMZ. There is no doubt that Toni's real estate purchase has to sting for her old creditors.
Money is Sweet!
AfroCandy Dreams Of D’Banj
AfroCandy and D'Banj |
As funny as this may sound, Nigeria’s Queen of Porn, AfroCandy, Juliet Mazagwu has a crush on singer turned farmer, D’Banj as she has been drooling over him in the recent past.
The controversial porn actress and producer of the explicit movie, Destructive Instinct took to her Twitter account this morning to tweet that she had a dream where she was frolicking with the ‘Koko Master,’ where he ‘fondled her boobs’ and showed her his ‘Big Banana’, while ‘begging her to follow him.’ She also stated in another tweet that though the singer was dragging her into a room, someone stood at the door blocking him.
Not done with that, the 43 years old mother of two grown up daughters went on to say how much she wants to get laid.
Some may see this as one of her attention seeking drama but who knows, her dreams may come true one day, after all it is not a crime to dream.
Will D’Banj make her dreams come to reality?

David Beckham Goes Naked For Super Bowl
Super star sportsman David Beckham will be taking nudity to heat up the Super Bowl as part of his latest underwear campaign for his H&M collection – David Beckham Bodywear. Even though his chiselled body has already graced too many ads across the nation, if not the world, the Spice Boy is billed to surprise his millions of fans by eliminating all his cloths in public.
The 38 year old sex symbol admits it’s a different and not-so-easy game when it came to stripping down for the sensual and suspenseful ad. "Having it [the ad] at the Super Bowl, it's no bigger and better than that," the blond beau of Victoria Beckham said, "So, it's kind of daunting because obviously there are so many people watching it. But I'm excited to see what people think." He ended.
The H&M campaign was filmed with two different endings. One version shows the hunk completely stripped down, as the other shows him in boxer briefs. Meanwhile fans will become the deciding factor as to which ad goes up. Without disclosing his opinion, David claimed to have an inkling at which one will win, which he said to be "even more nerve-racking."
The soccer star is seen struggling to find a way to his destination – studio after been locked out - between using his shirt as a sling to zipline across rooftops and one of his sexy billboards or simply running around like a madman. The #covered version of the ad will see David arrive at a photo shoot wearing only his signature H&M boxer briefs.
And in the other, titled #uncovered, the tatted A-list athlete strips down completely, which will clearly be censored for national television.
Which one of the ads guys, would you really love to see?
French President ends affair with first lady

Saying he was speaking as a private individual, Hollande said: “I wish to make it known that I have ended my partnership with Valerie Trierweiler.”
Saying he was speaking as a private individual, Hollande announced: “I wish to make it known that I have ended my partnership with Valerie Trierweiler.”Trierweiler, 48, remains holed up in a presidential residence in Versailles outside Paris after leaving hospital last Saturday, where she was treated for a bout of “tiredness” brought on by press revelations of Hollande’s affair with actress Julie Gayet, 41.
Trierweiler is due to fly to Mumbai on Sunday for a charity trip organised by French relief organisation Action Against Hunger, in what will be her first public appearance since the scandal broke.
Hollande, 59, announced his separation from Segolene Royal, a senior member of his Socialist party and a presidential candidate in 2007, just after she lost the election to Nicolas Sarkozy.
Trierweiler is not married to Hollande but assumed the role of First Lady at official functions after Hollande’s election in 2012.

Akon Sued For Duping An Egyptian Singer
The famous Egyptian singer claims, after spending hundreds of thousands to produce the single, Pitbull and Akon, who were supposed to sing along inexplicably, vanished. Hosny says he paid Akon a whopping $300K for both singers to sing on his new hit, Arabian Knight.
According to TMZ, 'Akon delivered the track but according to the lawsuit, in return for the $300K ... Akon and Pitbull were supposed to appear in the "Arabian Knight" music video ... but Pitbull was a no show."
Tamer claims Akon promised to deliver Pitbull for the shoot, so it's his fault and he's on the hook. He adds that it's double the disaster because he had to pay $100K for cameras and crew the day of the shoot - all for nothing.
We are still investigating why was Pitbull not sued but it’s going to be a thug of war if Akon doesn’t return Hosny’s $300,000.

Nigeria’s presidential election to hold February 2015
Nigeria is to hold its next presidential election on February 14, 2015, the Independent National Electoral Commission said Friday, with incumbent head of state Goodluck Jonathan expected to seek a second term.
“The commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for 14th February 2015,” the INEC said in a statement.
The commission said governorship and elections for state assemblies would be held on February 28 next year.
It also fixed June 21 and August 9 this year for the gubernatorial polls in Ekiti and Osun, two states in the western part of Nigeria where fresh elections are due at the expiration of the tenure of the incumbents.
The elections are expected to be fiercely contested between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the coalition of opposition parties, now called the All Progressives Congress. Smaller parties, such as Labour are also expected to play the spoilers in some of the states.

What Happened between Me and Prophet Ajanaku ––Tope Alabi
The controversy between gospel singer Tope Alabi and her late "Spiritual Father" Pastor Ajanaku is one that a lot of people want to know the truth about. Tope Alabi shares some with The Punch in this chat:
Your husband has been supportive; he is even your manager...
He is no longer my manager. I have a new manager. He is the marketer now. He is my boyfriend and the father of my children. He is the small boy in the house that must eat first even if no other person has eaten.
But most men don’t want their wives to be in the spotlight, how come he supports you like this?
I just thank God for his life. You can imagine, when we go for programmes, I would be given a seat in the front row while my husband would be given a seat at the back. Imagine! I would always tell him to come and sit in front so I can go to the back but he would never agree. He would ask me if he was Tope Alabi. God has been guiding us. How would I have managed without a husband like this?
Another story that generated some kind of controversy is the issue you had with the late Pastor Ajanaku, did you ever make up before he died?

On that issue, I would rather say no comment. When God is working in your life, anything can happen along the line. The Israelites faced turbulence and eventually got out of it. We need people who are spirit-filled to just fold their arms and watch what God will do.
Some people say you are happy he is no more...
God doesn’t like anybody who rejoices over a friend or enemy’s death. I cannot be an enemy of what God created. I can only be an enemy of God’s enemy. If you don’t like God, certainly, I will not like you. But I still say no comment on that issue.
Does it mean you will not tell us what really caused the problem between you two?
No comment. I just want people to say what they want to say. You are free. Your heart is not in my heart. People can speculate. People can feel whatever they want to feel.
But we learnt he anointed another singer as his spiritual child and it got you so upset...
I wasn’t there. I don’t know. So if I wasn’t there, how would I now ‘put mouth’ in something I don’t know about? I can’t say what I don’t know.
But did you feel bad that he replaced you, even if you weren’t there, you must have heard it?
I cannot feel bad. I didn’t feel bad. I can bring somebody today and I decide to bring that person up. Anybody is free to do whatever he/she feels like doing.
We learnt you also stopped attending his church…
Actually, I was never a member of his church but people don’t know this. I am just a woman who loves to help ministries. I go to the church and I give money, not small money. I can work for six months and I take my tithe to him just to bless his ministry. I do that in other ministries. I can minister in churches without collecting money. I know what I have passed through. I know where I am coming from. I want to bless God and thank Him.

The first day I ministered in his church, he gave me money but I didn’t collect it. I never collected money from him in my life, but I have donated millions to his church and so many other churches. I have so many people living in my house that I don’t even know their parents; and I just help them. I pay their fees. My husband helps the widows, we donate to orphanages. We just want to help.
Hmmmm such is life.
SSS Desperation over El-Rufai: Ex-Minister Fani Kayode Reacts
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted strongly to the "harassment" of Nasir el-Rufai by men of the State Security Services, over a statement he allegedly made. Below are his words...
It has been brought to my attention that heavily armed operatives of the SSS have stormed the home of my friend and brother Mallam Nasir El Rufai. What was his crime? He stated the obvious and told the truth - namely that if the Presidential elections are rigged in 2015 by the ruling PDP the people would rise up and there would be terrible violence and colossal casualties.
As far as I am concerned he is simply stating the obvious. It is only those that are planning to rig that have a problem with this bitter truth.
Nasir was simply counselling them about the natural consequences of their intended criminal actions yet the government appears to be hell bent on charting the course of oppression, intimidation and the supression of human rights, including the right to the freedom of speech.
El Rufai has sent a strong warning and, whether they like it or not, locking him up will change nothing. Whilst no-one wants violence and even though some of us abhor it let it be clearly understood that if anyone is hurt, maimed or loses their life as a consequence of PDP-rigging in 2015 the blame and responsibility will lie squarly on the shoulders of President Goodluck Jonathan and his PDP who are hell-bent on staying in power at all costs.
It is only a weak and nervous government that has lost it's moral compass, that has no respect at all for human rights and that is devoid of any conscience that behaves in this way.

It’s illogical for minority to claim majority — Femi Gbajabiamila
Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila is the presumptive Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Surulere Federal Constituency. In this interview before last Tuesday’s face-off in the House of Representatives, he gives reasons why there should be a swap in positions in the House, expectations from the legislature in the New Year among other things. Excerpts:
By Levinus Nwabughiogu
WHat should Nigerians expect from your party ahead of the 2015 elections?
I would encourage you as a journalist in your own little way to do a sampling of opinions of Nigerians as to what side of the divide they fall on.
I am not even talking about politicians now. I am talking about non politicians that represent 70 to 80 percent of the population. When you do a good sample of where they fall, you will see where the pendulum is swinging.

I am not even talking about politicians now. I am talking about non politicians that represent 70 to 80 percent of the population. When you do a good sample of where they fall, you will see where the pendulum is swinging.
So, it is obvious that people want change. And people will and must have that change. So, I see the two party-system as a good thing for this country. And in a way, it has also helped in promoting the unity that we have been looking for.
We have a country that is so diverse, over 250 ethnic groups, at least two major religions and a couple of other not-so-big religions; so, we are divided on many forms. It fosters unity. For me, it is a good omen. And I support it.
When do Nigerians expect a change in leadership?
You know there is time and season for everything. Yes, this we could have done last year, but it was just a day before we went on our break. We needed not to rush. So we decided to tarry until we resume. For me, it is a change of leadership. It is not whether you want to or you don’t want to.

If you look at the rules and the laws that govern our operations in the House, it is an operation of law. Whether we want or we don’t want. If we don’t, it is either we suspend our rules otherwise we are violating our rules because the rules are very clear.
The rules of the House say that the majority party shall produce the majority leadership and the minority party shall, it is “shall” and not “may”. So by the operation of the law, automatically if APGA or PPN becomes the majority today, they automatically by operation of law become the majority leadership.
There is no where in the world, no legislature in the world that I know where the majority plays the role of the minority or the minority plays the role of the majority.
Such a situation will defy logic, common sense and the law as in this case. So, I expect that things will take their normal cause and we will move on to more important things beyond leadership which is the business of law making.
Such a situation will defy logic, common sense and the law as in this case. So, I expect that things will take their normal cause and we will move on to more important things beyond leadership which is the business of law making.
What then is the place of 181 as the required number for any leadership change in the House?
Well, that is an unfortunate misunderstanding of the law. You do not require 181 to be the majority party in the House. 181 presupposes that there are only two parties in the House but you have more than two parties. If you have only two parties in the House then 181 becomes the number for majority because we are 360 members in the House.

If you have only two parties in the House then 181 becomes the number for majority because we are 360 members in the House.
Therefore, the simple majority will be 181. That is simply majority. But we do not have two parties in the House. We have about four to five parties in the House. So, in that case, the majority can even be 90, 100 if it is well spread.
For instance, if Labour Party has 50 members, another party has 60 members, another party has 80, another has 100 members, then the party with 100 members has the majority and they produce the majority leadership. All those who are talking about 181 misread the rules of the House. The majority is determined by the number of parties in the House.
There have been unending fireworks over the seats of those who defected to APC from the PDP. Some share the belief that their seats should be declared vacant. Do you buy that idea?
First of all, this is laughable except that it is not funny. Those who are asking that the seats of members be declared vacant don’t even understand this thing. I am surprised I have read some people, even seasoned legislators who have postulated to that effect that the seats belong to the party and stuffs like that working to a designed answer. But it is not going to work.

There is no where in the world is that done again. First of all, in terms of the law; Section 68 or thereabout of the constitution is clear. It gives certain condition where a member can defect.
If what you have in PDP today is not a division, then somebody needs to tell me what a division is because the opposite of division is unity.
If what you have in PDP today is not a division, then somebody needs to tell me what a division is because the opposite of division is unity.
So, if you are telling me there is no division in PDP; that PDP is one united, single party which even to the lay man, to kindergarten student out there, PDP has been shattered. Now in terms of who has the capacity or the powers to declare seats vacant, the constitution is very clear. It is not even the Speaker.
The Speaker declares it vacant, yes, but then the House has to vote on it and agree with the Speaker. That is the position of the constitution.
The Speaker declares it vacant, yes, but then the House has to vote on it and agree with the Speaker. That is the position of the constitution.
Position of the constitution
So, in effect, it is the whole House that votes as to whether or not such seat can be declared vacant. And I don’t see a situation where, whether it is the Senate or House, that body, when you put the question to say that the seats be declared vacant. That is not going to happen. It is an exercise in futility.

No court worth its salt or onion will even consider such an abuse of court process. So, INEC does not have the powers and INEC has said so categorically. The presidency does not have the powers. The party does not have the powers. The power actually belongs to the institution itself. And that’s what the constitution says.
What do you talk of the spate of letters between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan?
The letters are actually interesting. For me, they were very serious issues and so have entertainment.
It was comical as it was serious. Issues have been raised. Difficult as it may be, we need as a country to separate the messenger from the message. Are the messages true or not? Are the facts stated true or not irrespective of who delivered the message? Yes, some may argue that the messenger is tainted but what about the message itself?

And that’s what I think we need to focus on. I would have loved a situation where the President was a little bit more presidential in his response to the letter. It’s either you don’t respond at all and lean on the side of an obligation to the country, not to Obasanjo.
Obligation to the country
The respond should have been, for me, more presidential. One paragraph, two paragraph responses: “I have noted your observation and we will continue to work for the betterment of the country”, would have been simple and sufficient. It may not have been detailed but would have been better than the pettiness in the language of which the president replied very serious and pertinent issues.

Many people expect an imminent crash of APC judging from the fact that most people who formed the party are not best of friends politically.
We have heard this over and over again. It is wishful thinking on the part of the PDP and those who not want this country to move forward. It is wishful thinking and that’s what it is. We need to ignore such comment and continue to move on as we have been doing. From the inception, we were told that the merger will never happen.

These are strange bed fellows. But when the merger happened, we were told one thing after the other. They will never register APC. We have crossed all these hurdles and they will continue to say what they will say. We are not dazed at all with all these negative comments.

Manchester United agree club record £37m fee for Chelsea star Juan Mata
Manchester United's £37 million bid for playmaker Juan Matahas been accepted by Premier League rivals Chelsea, Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The paper said Mata had agreed personal terms with the English champions and will undergo a medical on Thursday.
The Spain international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after struggling to cement a regular starting spot under manager Jose Mourinho.
The 25-year-old has found game time hard to come by this season, with Mourinho favouring Brazil internationals Oscar and Willian and Belgium's Eden Hazard.
United manager David Moyes is looking for reinforcements to bolster his squad's creativity after a poor start to the season left them seventh in the Premier League and 14 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
The fee would break United's transfer record paid for striker Dimitar Berbatov, who joined in 2008 from Tottenham Hotspur for £30.75 million.
Mourinho has consistently maintained that Mata still has a role to play at Chelsea, but his determination to keep hold of the player is now likely to be tested.
Chelsea paid £23.5 million to sign Mata from Valencia in 2011 and he has been voted the London club's player of the year two seasons in a row.

APC Tsunami hits Osun; 200 PDP members defect in Osun
DAILY TRUST – About 200 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have defected to All Progressives Congress in Ifon, Orolu Local Government Area of the state barely few months to the governorship election.
The event took place at the APC State Party Secretariat, Osogbo, the state capital as APC chieftains in the State led by its Acting Chairman, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi received the new members.
He also urged the defectors not to involve in any obnoxious act that can tarnish their image before and after elections. But the Director of Media and Strategy for Osun PDP, Prince DIran Odeyemi dismissed the claim and insisted that PDP is intact in the state and ready for the forthcoming governorship election.
He said that elections transcend beyond deflection of party members and that Osun PDP is busy strategizing on how to defeat Aregbesola.
The APC boss warned the new members to abide by the rules and regulations of the party and advised them to be loyal and ready to work for the party so as to win elections ahead in the state beyond reasonable doubt.
